Hatha is the traditional style of Yoga that refers to the physical postures developed 7,000 years ago as part of the Eightfold Path & Science of Yoga. It is the umbrella for ALL other styles of Yoga that have developed in the last 50 years. Ha-tha means moon–sun or yin-yang and refers to the balance of our feminine & masculine energies for greater health. A typical Hatha class includes a combination of breathwork, stretching, sequenced yoga postures, and meditation.
The main focus in our Hatha class is proper alignment, the synchronization of breath and movement, and developing awareness, i.e. opening the third eye. Hatha classes are for people who enjoy a more spiritual experience of Yoga, with a mindful flow that builds endurance, strength, and balance in postures. The Hatha tempo allows for precise attention to detail in each posture. This class is great for newcomers to Yoga, as well as for the advanced student ready to fine tune their practice. Strong technique prevents injury for a life-time of Yoga practice.
This class honors your body in the early morning. We start with longer holds and deep stretching in the Hatha tradition, and build up to a steady rhythmic flow (i.e “Vinyasa”) to energize the entire mind-body system for a blissful day!
Our Hot Yoga classes are taught in the Vinyasa style. Vinyasa means “flow.” This class takes practitioners from pose to pose through breath and movement coordination with core emphasis. This makes the journey to challenging postures safe and enjoyable. Our Vinyasa class is a fun flow of sun & moon salutations, hip, shoulder & heart openers, with balancing postures and inversions. The A/C stays OFF so the muscles stay warm. Hot Yoga allows the practitioner to burn physical, mental, and emotional impurities using their own heat. This class allows for deep reflection & mind body connection while building the inner fire, which detoxifies through sweat and increased heart rate
Enjoy a super healthy fifty-five minute open-style yoga session served with a touch of relaxing meditation before heading back to work. This class is a mid-day refuge from the daily grind where students sweat toxins & stress away. We turn OFF the A/C to keep the muscles warm and allow for deeper yogic benefits, with maximum safety similar to the popular Hot Yoga. Now you can fit in your mind/body practice during the work-day!
Restorative Yoga is suitable for people of all ages, especially the sexy senior, or for those who say they are “not flexible” (yet), or recovering from injuries. Gentle movement and stretching through beginners yoga poses, supported by props, can reduce swelling in joints while increasing joint mobility. Restorative Yoga improves cardiovascular health, aids digestion and elimination, improves sleep and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. It has also been shown to speed the recovery from surgery and aid in the grieving process. Restorative yoga is also an excellent option for pregnant women up to full term.
Learn the foundational ancient Yogic techniques to develop a strong and safe practice from the ground up. This is the perfect class to begin your journey into Yoga, or to get the details you may be wanting, regardless of your level or length of time practicing. We will explore the deeper practices such as Bandas, Chakras, Chanting, Mantras, Meditation, Mudras & Pranayama.
Yoga 101 is NOT just for beginners. The vibe will be similar to a yoga teacher training. After a few months in this class, beginners will feel more comfortable in any Yoga class.
Yin Yoga focuses on endurance and mental/physical discipline through long holds using gravity and the practitioner’s awareness of their personal edge. This style emerged to bring balance to the active or Yang styles of Yoga, going back to the essentials of deep breathing and meditative stillness in postures. Yin Yoga benefits joints, connective tissue, and fascia. The pace is slow enough to relax in poses with props, so beginners and/or people who typically enjoy Restorative are welcome. Yin Yoga is similar to Restorative but is designed to allow the practitioner to grow into poses using the body’s natural ability.
The main difference between Yinversions and Yin Yoga (read above) is that Yinversions will emphasize a longer inversion practice in every class. The sequence of specific asanas covered in class will be designed to safely & logically lead your body into the inversion of the week, i.e. headstand, handstand, shoulderstand, forearm stand, scorpion, peacock, plow pose, full wheel, etc.Experience the myriad of benefits from turning upside down and shifting your perspective!
